Flying from Bangkok to Chiang Mai.
Late lunch at a local spot, and wow—easily one of the best pad thais I’ve ever had!
Stocked up on groceries to prep for New Year’s celebrations – bubbly (well, almost bubbly – a nice moscato bottle) and oliviye salad (Soviet Union staple of NY’s celebration).
Then headed to the Ping River for the final countdown. A kind local handed us a lantern to launch into the night sky—a bucket list moment come true! 🎈✨ The countdown was followed by a spectacular firework display, with the whole riverfront lighting up as people joined in with their own bursts of color. Chiang Mai definitely knows how to ring in the New Year in style!
