A day tour to Chiang Rai: White Temple, Blue Temple and Black House.
Baan Dum Museum (baan = house, dum = black), or colloquially known as the Black House, is in fact a huge area with up to 40 structures scattered around it. We didn’t have time to examine all of them, as we already were behind the schedule with our tour, but it was definitely strikingly different architecture than the previous two temples. The grounds were designed by Thawan Duchanee, who was a Thai contemporary painter, architect and sculptor. The vibe of the museum is somewhere between contemporary with notes of vikings and Thai traditional infusion. I know, it’s a lot to take.
