Started the day with the Pink Church—a charming little confection of a building that looked like it was plucked straight out of a Wes Anderson film. Sadly, it was closed, so we admired it from the outside. Its bubblegum color? Unexpected but oddly captivating.
Next stop: the Notre Dame Cathedral (de Saigon) and the City Post Office. The former slightly resembled the Paris’ version while the latter – our Grand Central Station in NYC. Just on a much lower scale.
Then came my highlight: Book Street. A cozy nook just across from the cathedral, it oozed charm with its vibrant bookshops (sadly, all in Vietnamese—so no shopping spree for me), adorable cafes, and quirky street art. D and I played “pick your favorite art piece,” a game that quickly turned into existential crisis-level decision-making.
Finally, we wrapped up with the Jade Emperor Pagoda. Spoiler: no pagoda in sight, but what it lacked in external flair, it made up for with its fascinating interior. Definitely one for the memory books.
