Kicked off the day with D doing some graceful laps in the pool and E lifting more than just their spirits at Auburn Swim Center.
Fast forward to the evening, BBQ at Susan’s place—delicious food, delightful people, and a grand old time with the whole crew. But wait—there’s a plot twist… we tried Vegemite for the first time. Spoiler alert: E was on team “I kinda like it,” M was on the “meh” fence, and D was firmly in the “nope, not for me” camp.
Then, we had an epic 3v4 tennis match. On one side, Susan, her daughter Amy, and Daniel formed an unstoppable trio. On the other side, Susan’s husband Mark, son-in-law Michael, Marat and yours truly. Verdict: Mark and Susan wielded the rackets like pros (Djokovic-level tricks and such). Michael, M, D, and Amy were solid. And me? Well, let’s just say I wasn’t joking when I said my hand-eye coordination is like trying to catch butter with a fork (legacy of unsporty past). I made a graceful walk of shame after failing to connect with more than two balls the whole game.
Huge thanks to Susan and her amazing family for making it a night to remember. In D’s words: “This was the best day in Sydney!” Not that we’re keeping score or anything…
And Susan – you are full of acceleration G-forces! Wink-wink, nudge-nudge. 😉
