Mar 22, 2025 – Lake Tekapo, New Zealand

Kicked off the day with D sampling the local cuisine — a hot cross bun from the legendary Fairlie Bakehouse. It was so good, I almost considered getting a second one… but I’m pretty sure I’m not allowed to enter a bakery twice in one morning without some kind of existential crisis.

Then, we made our way to Lake Tekapo, where we did all the classic touristy things. First up: a picture next to the Church of the Good Shepherd, which, let’s be honest, looks like it was plucked from a fantasy novel — mysterious, serene, and probably harboring some ancient secret. After that, we crossed the Maclaren Footbridge (which, I can confirm, is still a bridge), made a wish at the Wishing Well (I wished for more hot cross buns), and zipped down the coolest zip line ever. Somewhere in all that excitement, I also managed to trip and land squarely on my already-sore leg. Dramatic falls, dramatic views—basically, I’m now a walking tourist attraction.
