Started the day with a visit to the sulphur-scented, boiling banks of Lake Rotorua—basically looked like we stepped into some otherworldly, sci-fi set. Daniel? Oh, he was busy acting like a drama queen, whining about how he could get nauseous at any moment thanks to the sulphur. Spoiler alert: we didn’t bail yet.
Next up, we needed to ditch the sulfurous aroma, so we hit the Rose Garden at the Government Gardens. After a delightful stroll, we fueled up at Spa City Noodle Bar—because nothing says “adventure” like beef noodles, fried noodles, and dandan noodles.
With bellies full, we made our way back to Kuirau Park to finally check out Kuirau Lake (last time, we foolishly skipped it). And let me tell you, it did not disappoint. Gorgeous, steamy, and totally worth the trek.
We wrapped things up by strolling the lakeside, playing around at a playground like kids, then I treated myself to a little solo thermal therapy at the Polynesian Spa. Because, let’s be honest, I am totally worth it.
