Went to the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long, 11th century. It’s a big area with multi generational relics in there of which were the command center and the bunker called the “D67 bunker”. It served as an important military command center during the Vietnam War for the Vietnamese Communist Party leadership, where key decisions were made during the conflict with the US.
But back to the Citadel, there are only a few buildings and old gates that remained from 11th century and they continue to do some excavation in the place. Some of the exhibits were just a stretch: the “treasure” exhibit only had a few relics, a fraction of what we’ve seen in other museums in Asia, or a whole exhibit with pictures of other world places of interest… but I suppose wars do not yield much to the preservation of historical treasures.
Lotus Water Puppet Theater – absolutely loved the show! It was very creative and entertaining. Before each scene, there was an explanation in English of what the scene will be about. But I wish we could understand Vietnamese to follow the live conversation between two super funny male and female farmer characters at the end. Even without the language knowledge, their acting was hilarious.
