Nov 2, 2024 – What I love about Seoul ❤️

We really enjoyed our time in Korea! I wish we booked longer time. I was originally intimidated about the language barrier as well as Hangul and inability to get around. But it was very much overcome-able.

  • Seoul is basically a cleanliness miracle for a city of 10 million. Seriously, I’ve seen cleaner streets here than in most people’s living rooms. Not a speck of dirt anywhere!
  • And toilets—oh, the toilets! They’re everywhere, they’re clean, and they’re abundant. Every subway station, every corner. It’s like the city is personally invested in your bathroom experience. Did I mention they’re clean? It’s like they knew we’d all have biological needs and planned accordingly.
  • People here are so polite and helpful (mostly). We didn’t even ask for help—people just see us fumbling with subway maps and come rushing over like it’s their life mission to guide lost tourists. Case in point: an elderly gentleman at a restaurant brought us kimchi and radish pickles we didn’t even realize were free.
  • The Seoul Open Library? Oh, it’s a dream. It’s outside by the streams, in Gwangwan Square, all comfy and peaceful—basically the perfect place to chill with a book.
  • And museums? FREE. A lot of sightseeing spots cost next to nothing (I’m looking at you, royal palace, with your W3,000 entry fee—about $2). Seoul’s generosity knows no bounds!
