It was time to say bye to our parents. They went back home to Russia. We went to Istanbul.
- Walked around the place where we stayed (old city) and ran onto Uzbek restaurant. Ordered manti, somsi, morkovcha and green tea. All in $25. Soooooo delicious! It was a feast for our taste buds and our stomaches! Miss Uzbek food so much.
- Then went to the Blue Mosque (free to go inside), Hippodrome (just a small square), Aya Sophia mosque (didn’t go inside, only took pictures outside).
- The Blue Mosque is gorgeous. The entrance is free. As is the custom in the country, women need to cover their heads, no shorts for men or exposing clothes in the mosque. Everyone should take their shoes off before entering any mosque. If you don’t have a cover, you can borrow it from the mosque. Ditto for leg covering for men. I used my coat’s hood as my head cover, no issues with that.
