Took another Seoul Guided Walking Tour, this time of the Gyeongbukgung palace. We loved our guide! She was a former history teacher. As a retiree, she volunteers to provide free tours about Seoul, which also helps her practice her English and stay sharp. She is truly to be admired! We asked her tons of questions about Korean lifestyle and she was patient and gracious to answer us and go over the allotted 1.5 hr time.
- We didn’t have time to rent hanbok, so just purchased the entrance tickets of only W3k/adult (about $2). Youth is free.
- On the way back home, D and I checked out the small Japanese sushi place ordering 10pc sushi for W13k each. It was soooo delicious. And wasabi was oh so good – a little tiny bit was enough to wake up your nasal passages all the way to the roots of your hair!
- Went to the Namseong “Four Seasons” traditional market. Got persimmons (they were in season: almost every grocery store and market had those), roasted duck, some street food (steamed mandi of different types) and fresh jujubes fruit (or daechu – Chinese type of dates). We had those in Uzbekistan’s bazaars but they were mostly sold dry.
